E.V.P.

Electronic Voice Phenomenon

E.V.P. is short for Electronic Voice Phenomenon. During investigations we use Digital Voice Recorders not only to log case info, but also as a valuable tool in the in the field. Digital Voice Recorders can pick up sounds and voices that can or can not be noticed at the time of the investigation, and over and over again has proved to be one of the best tools a Paranormal Investigator/Researcher can have in there arsenal.

 U.P.O. Investigation File #78: Sorg's Opera House:

Location: Middletown, Ohio

Recording Equipment

Sony MZ-RH910 Hi-MD Recorder

Sony ECM-MS907 Stereo Microphone

Conclusion

Based on the EVP evidence capture, it is safe to assume that Sorg's Opera House does exhibit some paranormal activity.

This E.V.P was captured from a Digital Voice Recorder during a tour of the building the day before the investigation. You can clearly hear a voice say (Asshole) then right after you can hear U.P.O's D.J. Salmons starting to comment to our guide on something I had told him earlier. (Mike said it..)

Sorg's Opera House in Middletown was built in 1891. It showed opera until 1915, when it switched to movies. In 1985 it was changed back into a stage theater. At some point the second of the two balconies was hidden behind a false ceiling, and remains up there, just the same as it was back in the 1930s, when it was the colored section.

The theater's original owner, Paul J. Sorg, haunts the theater in his 1890s formal clothing. Witnesses who have seen him there identify him by a portrait which hangs in the theater lobby. He was an incredibly wealthy man, locally known as "the last of the robber barons," and he built the theater for his young wife, who was in love with drama and opera. Early on, Bob Hope performed here.

Footsteps are the most common occurrence here, along with the sighting of Sorg's ghost. He paces backstage and on the catwalks overhead.

Another ghost belongs to a black man who is supposed to sit in the closed-off balcony for every performance, despite the fact that a ceiling blocks his view. The technical people who work at the theater leave programs for him sometimes.

U.P.O. Investigation File #87:  Woodhill Cemetery

Location: Franklin, Ohio

Recording Equipment

Sony MZ-RH910 Hi-MD Recorder

Sony ECM-MS907 Stereo Microphone

Conclusion

Based on the EVP evidence capture, it is safe to assume that Woodhill Cemetery does exhibit some paranormal activity.  This location may prove to be a good location to test real-time EVP equipment.

Is it possible to capture Electronic Voice Phenomenon, in a cemetery, in the middle of the afternoon?  Indeed it is.  We began our investigation at approximately 3:00 PM at the Woodhill Cemetery.  The weather conditions were sunny and breezy, which presented a few challenges with respect to wind noise in the microphone.

We conducted EVP sessions in three different sections of the cemetery.  In each section we asked several questions in an attempt to capture a response from any entities in the area.  During analysis the recordings, we discovered responses to some of our questions.  The following are the noise reduction processed EVP recordings and the transcripts of what we believe the response to be.  Your interpretation may be different. The bubbly sound present in the tracks are audio artifacts from the noise reduction process.  The audio level of the EVP in the recordings has been enhanced so you can more clearly hear the captured responses.

Woodhill Cemetery Section 9

Session Note:  In this EVP there appears to be five distinctly different voices.  The names captured at the beginning and at end of the EVP appear to be an intelligent response to the question.  The voices captured in the middle of the recording appear to be a residual activity.  The EVP was captured in the wooded area beyond the obelisk in the center.

This is the same EVP after enhancement to block the wind noise. Notice how you can now hear what sounds to be the voice of a young woman just under the childs cries.
